About this Event
This UC-hosted summit will provide an introduction to coccidioidomycosis, or Valley fever, as well as current and future research investments in California that can inform an effective public health response for the State and the region.
Sponsored by the University of California Office of the President and hosted by UC Merced and the Health Sciences Research Institute.
Objectives: Increase awareness of the epidemiology, symptoms, and risk factors associated with Valley fever; describe past and current UC research to improve screening and diagnosis, prevention, and treatment outcomes for Valley fever; highlight key priorities for policy and scientific research; facilitate new collaborations between science, policy, and community advocates; acknowledge state leadership for advancing investments to improve public health in California and beyond.

(9am-10:20am) Session 1: Disease, Treatment and Outcomes
(10:40am-12pm) Session 2: Basic Research
(12pm-1pm): Lunch and Networking
(1pm-2pm) Session 3: Future Goals and Gaps (this portion of the summit will NOT be livestreamed via Zoom)
