Invitation: The Pennsylvania Developmental Disabilities Council invites you to a day of networking, discovering alliances and collaboration building among diverse organizations throughout Pennsylvania led by and/or supporting underserved/unserved populations who experience marginalization and oppression.

Oppression affects many of us, for different socially constructed reasons: racism, ethnicity, age, gender, sexual identity and orientation, disability, economics, rural/urban location, religion, and so much more. Although our discrimination experiences may be different, we can be a valuable support and resource to each other in our struggles for equality, inclusion and social justice.

THERE IS NO REGISTRATION FEE. Limited scholarships may be available to help by reimbursing for travel and lodging costs. Please contact Dana Thompson at danathomps@pa.gov or (717) 214-8103 to discuss level of need, if the cost of travel and accommodations would pose a hardship for your organization.

Accessibility/language accommodations: CART (Communication Access Real-time Translation) will be at this event. If you require an accommodation to more fully participate in the event such as large print, an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter, interpreter and/or translation services for other non-English languages, raised tabletops, etc. – please contact Amber Daub at adaub@pa.gov or call (717) 787-6058. Please make accommodation requests by Tuesday, April 23, 2019.

General Questions: Please direct all other general questions to Dana Thompson- danathomps@pa.gov or call (717)214-8103.

Day 1: At the 5th annual PA Community Alliance Summit, we begin with Pop-up Talks and then take part in a workshop titled: TEAMING: Releasing the Transforming Power of Coalition Building, conducted by the National Coalition Building Institute.

Evening Meet & Greet: To expand on your opportunities for networking, please attend our Meet & Greet session the evening of Day 1 on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, between 5:30pm – 9:00 pm. We will have light refreshments, more Pop-up Talks, icebreaker activities, see old friends and make new connections.

Day 2: As we network and connect with allies and new partners, we will continue to focus on community building. There will be more Pop-up Talks, and several small group discussion sessions designed to increase the opportunities for collaborations to form.

Meals: There will be light refreshments provided throughout both days, including at the evening Meet & Greet. Supper on Day 1 is on your own. Day 2 there will be a buffet lunch served, including vegetarian options.
