Event description
Annual meeting bringing together users of the OpenACC programming model with members of the OpenACC organization.

About this Event

Every year, the OpenACC annual meeting brings together users of the OpenACC programming model and members of OpenACC organization representing national laboratories, industry, and universities and research institutions to exchange information and expand the use of this programming model in various scientific domains.

The 2019 annual meeting is scheduled at the RIKEN Center for Computational Science (R-CCS) September 2-5. This four-day meeting will include two keynotes, several OpenACC talks, a GPU Bootcamp, and includes the opportunity to gather OpenACC user feedback that will be used to develop and advance the functionality of the OpenACC specification.

Monday and Tuesday are open to the public. Wednesday and Thursday are by invitation only.

About OpenACC

OpenACC.org is a nonprofit organization founded to help scientists and researchers do more science and less programming by providing a high-level directives-based programming model for high performance computing. The charter of OpenACC.org is to develop and deliver the OpenACC specification, and to help educate and support scientists and researchers using or considering using OpenACC directives. The organization is run by academic and industry members in collaboration with the OpenACC User Community. For more information, visit www.openacc.org.

About RIKEN and the RIKEN Center for Compuational Science

RIKEN is Japan's largest comprehensive research institution renowned for high-quality research in a diverse range of scientific disciplines. Founded in 1917 as a private research foundation in Tokyo, RIKEN has grown rapidly in size and scope, today encompassing a network of world-class research centers and institutes across Japan.

The RIKEN Center for Computational Science (R-CCS) is the leadership research center in high performance computing and computational science in Japan, operating the K computer, and developing its successor Fugaku. Our objectives are to investigate “the Science of (high performance) computing, by computing, and for computing”, and promote the core competence of the research in a concrete fashion as open source software, and to collaborate with many other leadership centers globally. The K computer initiated full operation in the fall of 2012, and since then it has continued to produce multitudes of world-leading scientific and engineering results, not only by the academia but also by the industry. Following K’s success, development work started in April 2014 on the successor to K, the supercomputer Fugaku, with which we aim to achieve not only orders of magnitude increase in our capabilities but also achieve better ease of use and synergy with other IT ecosystems such as big data and artificial intelligence. Fugaku will be made available for shared use around 2021, to serve as a keystone for solving some of the most important science and social problems that are of high concern to the general public.
