The next CRRC Radiative Property Laboratory Training Course will take place on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 and will be held at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) in Berkeley, California. Prior to the onsite training, the CRRC will provide a mandatory two-hour webinar on Tuesday, July 2.

The 2019 workshop will include exciting new material and more time for hands-on training. This course provides a unique opportunity to complete hands-on testing, ask questions, and network with peers.

The in-person course includes the following components:

Theoretical foundation: A review of the theory for measuring the optical properties of materials

Hands-on training in:

- Solar reflectance measurements (ASTM C1549, CRRC-1 Test Method # 1 and variants, 5-point reflectance test to determine variegation)

- Thermal emittance measurements (ASTM C1371 and Slide Method)

- Thickness measurements (ASTM D1005, ASTM D7091, ASTM D751)

- Colorimetry (ASTM E805)

- CRRC Online Rating Portal (*New* this year)

Travel/Lodging Logistics

The workshop will be held in Berkeley, CA. The closest airports are Oakland (OAK) and San Francisco (SFO). Both are accessible by the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART), a public transportation system that you can take to downtown Berkeley.

The CRRC has negotiated discounted lodging rates at the Berkeley Lab Guest House, which features LEED equivalent accommodations for $145 per night for a standard room with one queen sized bed, or two twin beds. $155 for a large room with two queen sized beds. The Lab Guest House is within walking distance of the training location. It is accessed by the free LBNL shuttle from the Downtown Berkeley BART station. All room rates include tax, parking, wi-fi, weekday shuttle pass, coffee, tea and housekeeping. Rates are single occupancy, add $10 per additional guest in the room.
