Description
Join us for the fifth annual Lucy McKeel 5K 4 Kids Run (formally The Fruit of the Spirit 5K) presented by The Town of Red Oak and Red Oak United Methodist Church. We are excited to continue this 5k held entirely throughout the beautiful streets of Red Oak, NC.
ABOUT: The Lucy McKeel 5K 4 Kids Run race is accurately measured and chip timed. 100% of the race proceeds stays in the Red Oak Community to support local reading summer camps for children that need a little extra help in maintain their reading levels over the summer.
THE RACE: The 5K starts and finishes at Red Oak United Methodist Church and takes you down senic streets in Red Oak. The race follows Red Oak Battleboro Road to the beautiful Plantation Sub Division and circles back to the church. The roads that we will use throughout the 5K will be closed to traffic.
1 MILE FUN RUN: There will be a 1 mile fun run for students of Red Oak Elementary, Swift Creek Elementary, and Red Oak Middle Schools. This fun run is a friendlt competition between the local schools for a chance to win $1,000. Others are welcome to run in this event as well and will not count towards each school's totals.

THE COURSE: The 5k course will start and finish at Red Oak United Methodist Church.
T-SHIRTS: T-Shirts will be given to race participants who register before September 20, 2018. Anyone who registers after this date is not guaranteed a shirt. We will pass out any extra shirts on a first come first serve bases.
AID STATION: We will have one aid station that you hit twice offering only water on the course. If you feel you need more than this, please carry a bottle.
PACKET PICKUP: We will have race packets available starting at 3pm the day before the race (Friday October 12) at Red Oak United Methodist Church.
AWARDS: We will present custom Lucy McKeel 5K 4 Kids Run medals to the overall Top 3 Male and Female Finishers Top 3 Male and Females in each Age Group category. Age Groups are as follows: Under 13; 13-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60+
POST RACE: We will have fresh juices, water, fruits and some other snacks at the finish.

Red Oak United Methodist Church is located in Red Oak, N.C. and is rethinking church. We are more interested in building up the kingdom of God than about building up ourselves. We are very outwardly focused and driven to help others by getting our own hands and feet dirty to do the work. Church is about more than writing a check and sending it somewhere for someone else to do the work, church is about us being the hands and feet of Christ to everyone we come in contact with.
