Description
The LLVM Foundation is excited to announce our second Women in Compilers and Tools Reception to be held the night before the 2018 European LLVM Developers' Meeting!
This is an evening reception on April 15th that includes dinner, drinks, and a panel featuring well known women in the field of compilers and tools. The confirmed speakers are Anastasia Stulova, Karine Heydemann, and Alina Sbirlea. The event will be held at a restaurant called Riverstation.
This event aims to connect women in the LLVM community and the field of compilers and tools. It also is open to anyone (men or women) who is interested in increasing diversity within the LLVM community, their workplace or university.
Background of the panelists:
Karine Heydemann
Karine Heydemann Associate Professor, Sorbonne Universite (formerly UPMC) and Laboratoire d'informatique de Paris 6, France. Karine Heydemann received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Rennes 1 in 2004. She joined UPMC in 2006. Her research work concerns the interaction between software and hardware for different objectives at the software level, in particular, it is related to software protection and robustness against physical attacks. In the recent years, she developed a research program encompassing high- and low-level models and formal methods for automatically assessing the robustness of software protections or hardened code using formal verification. She also works on the design of generic software protections against fault attacks and their automation in a compilation flow. Karine Heydemann leads the PROSECCO project (French research fundings agency - ANR) investigating the automation of protection at compilation time and the verification of hardened assembly code. She also serves on Program Committees (CS2, SPRO, WoRIE, PROOFS, SBAC-PAD). Also, she gathered a rich and diversified experience in the creation, management, and organization of undergraduate curricula.
Anastasia Stulova
Anastasia Stulova completed her Computer Science degree with honors at Ivanovo State Power University, Russia in 2006. She was then granted a scholarship for a master's study in Embedded Systems Design at Advanced Learning and Research Institute, Lugano, Switzerland. After obtaining the master's degree in 2008, Anastasia moved to Germany where she started working as a research assistant at RWTH Aachen University. Her research was focused on EDA tools, simulations and compiler tools for Multi-Core SoCs.
Anastasia joined the Media Engineering Group at ARM in 2013 to work on the OpenCL compiler for Mali GPUs. Her primary responsibility is implementing new OpenCL standards and features. She is also an active Clang contributor and since 2016 she is a code owner of OpenCL in Clang. She has been contributing to OpenCL 2.0 and has worked on several refactorings and improvements to the implementation of previous standards upstream. Anastasia is a member of the Khronos Group where her mission is to establish the link between specification writers and tool developers, and also to help make future standards more suitable for mapping to heterogeneous hardware architectures.
Alina Sbirlea
Alina has been working at Google for the past 2 years in the C++ Language Toolchain team. Before that, Alina did a Ph.D. in Computer Science at Rice University, focusing on programming languages for heterogenous architectures. Prior, Alina received bachelors degree in CS from "Politehnica" University of Bucharest, Romania.
In her spare time, Alina enjoys outdoor activities with her husband and daughters.
