Dressing for Conservatory

Accepted Answer

Students should wear comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement and appropriate coverage. Recommended clothing includes sneakers or dance shoes; cotton shirts or tank tops; yoga pants, sweat pants, or athletic shorts. Denim, open-toed shoes, and dresses/skirts are strongly discouraged.

Packing A Bag

binder for your script (we provide the script), notebook, pencil, sunscreen, packed lunch, and a refillable water bottle. 
*Actors should leave all valuables at home: Cal Shakes is not responsible for lost, stolen, or broken personal possessions.

Question 3

Attendance Policy

Please see that your actor attends class every day. Theater is a collaborative art form, so consistent attendance is important. 
Except for reasons of illness, no actor may miss more than 2 days of Conservatory. 
If your actor must be absent or tardy, call the Coordinators in advance.

Question 4

LUNCH  & SNACK

Snack and lunch breaks have been built into the schedule. Please make sure that your actor brings a snack, lunch, and water every day. Actors will not be allowed to leave the premises for lunch or breaks. Breaks are outdoors in a designated area, so sunscreen is highly advised.

Want to Visit?

To ensure a safe and comfortable learning environment for all actors, classes, and rehearsals are closed to all visitors. Parents, guardians, and visitors will have the opportunity to view the work on the last day of the Conservatory.

Drop Off & Pick Up

Please be sure your actor arrives to class on time; if they are late they may miss essential information and instruction. Late-arriving actors must be escorted by a guardian to the Conservatory office for check-in. Actors must be signed in upon arriving and signed out before leaving.

Question 7

Phone Policy

To be respectful of our instructors and directors, actor's phones must be on silent and are not to be used during class or rehearsal except in the case of an emergency. Should an emergency arise, the student must notify their Fearless Leader who will take the necessary next steps.

Question 8

Drop off is 8:30 - 9:00 am

Students may begin arriving no sooner than 8:30am. All Conservatory session days begin at 9am. At the start of the day, all students will gather in the amphitheater.

Question 9

Pick up is  3:00 - 3:30 pm

Accepted Answer

A staff member will wait with the students for pick- up. Classes end at 3pm. All students should be picked up promptly. After 3:30, you will be charged a late fee of $15/hr.
