Fine Knit Mending Class
By East Bay Depot for Creative Reuse
Overview
Learn to close and cover holes to repair fine knit garments
Many is the sweater that has been lost to moths. Take back your beloved knits! Students will learn how to close and cover small holes in fine knits like cashmere and merino and also how to mend thin and worn out elbows through both Scotch darning and patching. Besides sweaters, the skills in this class also work great for wool scarves and socks!
No knitting skills required! It helps if students already have some familiarity with sewing, but even absolute beginners can succeed in this class. All materials are included.
Instructor Cirrus Wood is a self-taught artisan who enjoys coming up with and learning new techniques to make clothing more visually appealing and more durable. He runs the mending and tailoring business Dollars & Yen which came about after years of casually combining elements of both Japanese and American design in his own wardrobe.
