Love, Blends & Bid Whist — A Rather Fly Residency at Sip & Sonder is a cultural experience dedicated to one of the Black community’s most storied card games. Hosted by the brilliant Yazmin Monét Watkins, this residency brings together seasoned Bid Whist players and curious first-timers for our once-a-month gatherings filled with strategy, laughter, and connection.

Set at Sip & Sonder, Inglewood’s beloved Black-owned coffee house and creative hub, the residency is more than just gameplay—it’s about honoring “The Father of Spades,” and observing tradition while welcoming new players into the fold. Bid Whist, a game with deep roots in our culture, has long been a space for fellowship, wit, and generational exchange. This residency extends that legacy in a contemporary space that centers community, creativity, and joy.
