The Strong Type: A Support Group for Adults with Type 1 Diabetes

Living with Type 1 Diabetes means navigating a world that often doesn’t see — or understand — what you carry every day. It’s more than managing numbers. It’s the mental load, the emotional fatigue, the planning, the explaining, the uncertainty… and still showing up to life.

This group was created by Michelle, a licensed therapist who also lives with T1D, out of a deep belief that no one should have to do this alone. T1D is a unique experience, and while everyone’s journey is different, there’s something powerful about being in a room (or Zoom) with people who just get it — no need to explain the basics or sugarcoat the hard stuff.

Over the course of six weeks, this group will explore the emotional and practical sides of living with T1D. Together, we’ll talk about daily challenges, mental health, burnout, identity, relationships, and what resilience really looks like. This is a space for connection, reflection, shared wisdom, and support — all within a community that understands.

This group is open to adults diagnosed and living with T1D. Whether you’ve been diagnosed for years or more recently, you're welcome here.

Location: Hybrid Format. In-Person Sessions at Green Door Therapy (132 N York Street, Suite 2H, Elmhurst) and Zoom (links provided upon registration).
