After the Roots: Nurturing New Plants - caring for young gardenia plants

Rooting a cutting is like welcoming new life—it’s only the first step! In this follow-up to our propagation class, you’ll discover how to guide your young plants into healthy growth.

We’ll cover proper watering techniques, when and how to repot, choosing the best growing media, managing light exposure, selecting the right fertilizers, and protecting your plants from pests.

With the right care, your rooted cuttings will grow into strong, thriving plants you can enjoy for years to come.

Calvin Zeng is a botanist, nursery owner and operator. Calvin has left many signatures on Oʻahuʻs landscape industry.

What to bring/wear

Participants will be provided with all materials and supplies: Gardenia plants and propagation materials.

Wear cool, comfortable clothing, and bring mosquito repellent. Bring water to drink.
