Trans people often experience stigma and discrimination, hostility, and pressure to “manage” their identities in the workplace to suit the expectations of others. Such experiences can set in motion a host of psychological responses that have devastating consequences for trans individuals’ emotional well-being, job satisfaction, and their inclination to remain with an employer.
The role of HR professionals in providing support to trans employees has also become more complex this year following the ruling on sex and gender arising out of the 2025 High Court decision which has exacerbated conflicting views on trans inclusion and fuelled transphobia on social media and in the wider community.
This webinar delivered over Zoom by Pride UK Strategy Director, Suzanna Hopwood, and colleagues, provides practical steps to support trans employees in the context of the current legal situation and covers:
· HR implications of the Equality Act and Gender Recognition Act
· Best practice recruitment and selection of trans employees
· Managing the data protection requirements of trans employees
· Providing medical and therapeutic support to trans employees
· HR planning and support for employees transitioning at work
· Ensuring the personal safety and wellbeing of trans employees
