Introduction to QGIS

This introductory workshop will focus on the fundamental concepts and skills needed to begin using Geographic Information Systems software for the exploration and analysis of spatial data using the open source GIS package QGIS.

Topics covered:

What is a GIS?

Spatial Data Models and Formats

Projections and Coordinate Systems

Basic Data Management

The QGIS User Interface

Basic Analysis and Map Construction

Required: Attendees MUST have a laptop in order to follow along with workshop exercises. We will cover QGIS installation during the workshop set up.
