About this event

UM YEAH Arts and ((folkYEAH!!)) presents YI-WO, Thursday, September 18 at the Henry Miller Meorial Library

YI-WO is a prayer, a habitual ritualistic gaze into the depths of the vast unknowable. YI-WO is a celebration of very purposely selected forms of the connective water sliding pursuits. It's poem, a place to be or not to be untangled. A space for your time, to possibly honor the practice, this existence and the path's potential dimensional expansive qualities.

YI-WO was completed in 2025 and directed by Thomas Campbell.

The surfers documented in the film are Ryan Burch, Alex Knost, Craig Anderson, Karina Rozunko, Joel Tudor, Nick Melanson, Lauren Hill, Dave Rastovich, Ozzie Wright, Jared Mell, Trevor Gordon and Bryce Young.

The locations filmed are Fiji, Morocco, Indonesia, Costa Rica, Australia, Utah and California.

Shot predominantly on 16mm film by Thomas Campbell, Dave Homcy, Scott Soens, Chris Bryan and Tyge Landa among others.

Check out Surfer magazine's interview with Campbell here.

Beer and wine will be available for purchase. Feel free to bring dinner — and a layer!

Welcome!

Organized by

The Henry Miller Memorial Library is a public benefit, non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization championing the literary, artistic and cultural contributions of the late writer, artist, and Big Sur resident Henry Miller. The Library tries to do as little as possible since we are in Big Sur a place very well suited for doing nothing. It turns out to be difficult however because Henry Miller is egging us on to promote the things he believes make life worth living like good conversation, freedom of thought, good food, sex and art in all its forms; old, new, weird and varied! Welcome!
