Half-day safeTALK training at the Traverse Area District Library - Mcguire Room, 610 Woodmere Ave., Traverse City, MI.

There is a $25 (plus fees) deposit REQUIRED to save your seat. **A full refund (minus fees) will be processed only after attending the training... unless you prefer to pay-it-forward. Though this training is valued at $50, cost is supplemented by the following sponsors: Kiersten's Ride.

safeTALK helps participants become alert to suicide. Suicide-alert people are better prepared to connect persons with thoughts of suicide with life-affirming help.

Over the course of their training, safeTALK participants will learn to:

• Notice and respond to situations where suicide thoughts may be present,

• Recognize that invitations for help are often overlooked,

• Move beyond the common tendency to miss, dismiss, and avoid suicide,

• Apply the TALK steps: Tell, Ask, Listen, KeepSafe, and

• Know community resources and how to connect someone with thoughts of suicide to them for further suicide-safer help

This training is for anyone 15 years old or older. However, for attendees 15-17 years old, we will ensure a parent/guardian is aware of participation.

*This course is approved by the NASW Michigan Social Work (SW) Continuing Education Collaborative Course approval for 3.5 hours.

**This course is also approved by the Michigan Department of Education for 3.5 hours of State Continuing Education Clock Hours (SCECHs).

**** This course is approved by MDHHS Peer Support for 3.5 hours of Continuing Education credits.

Other CEUs can be earned thru https://www.ceunits.com/livingworks/. The cost for the CEUs is $5 per credit hour, but you will not be charged until you pass the exam and download your certificate.

***Cancellation Policy:If cancellation is received by Kiersten's Ride via email more than 7 days prior to the start date of the training; the course fee will be refunded, less a $5 non-refundable administration fee.If cancellation is received by Kiersten's Ride via email within 7 days of the start date of the training or there is a NO SHOW the day of training, the course fee will not be refunded.
