The Shanghai American Center presents the American Legends Film Series, a curated selection of films showcasing the lives of extraordinary Americans who have excelled through talent, determination, and perseverance.  These films highlight the achievements of American leaders, visionaries, and trailblazers across various fields, offering audiences a true understanding of the United States.

This June, the Shanghai American Center will present “Harriet”, a powerful and inspiring film that brings to life the extraordinary journey of Harriet Tubman, one of America’s most revered freedom fighters.  Born into slavery, Tubman escaped and went on to lead hundreds of enslaved people to freedom through the Underground Railroad, risking her life, time and again in pursuit of justice and liberty.  The film portrays her courage, conviction, and unshakable belief in the dignity and rights of all people.  Harriet is more than a historical drama—it is a testament to the enduring spirit of resistance and the power of individual action to shape a more just world.

The film is in English with Chinese subtitles.
