Join us for a FREE, Marionette Puppet Making Workshop at the Pittsburgh Center For Creative Reuse!

In this hands-on, heart-led workshop, we’ll build marionettes using recycled and found materials — transforming everyday objects into expressive puppets. As we construct our characters, we’ll explore how puppet-building can be a form of somatic practice: unlocking body awareness, identity, and imaginative movement. Whether you’re new to puppetry or a longtime maker, you’ll leave with your own unique marionette and a deeper connection to your creative voice.

Creative Reuse is a supportive space, open to folks with any level of artistic ability. Our goal is to foster expression and creative community, not perfection. Just bring an open mind– we’ll cover the rest.

This workshop is a part of our Guest Teaching Artist workshop series! On the second sunday of each month we bring in a local artist to host a workshop sharing their specialty. This months' Guest TA is Josie (they/she). Josie Oriana is an interdisciplinary artist, playwright, and puppeteer based in Pittsburgh, PA. As founder of Felix & Gigi Theatre Company, Josie explores the intersections of storytelling, recycled art, and healing. Her work centers queer joy, somatic expression, and the power of puppetry to unlock creativity in all ages. Josie believes puppet-making can reconnect us to play, movement, and possibility — no matter our background.

Pittsburgh Center for Creative Reuse supports Pittsburgh's creative infrastructure by providing materials and inspiration for hundreds of amazing projects every year.  We have a shop where everyone can get resources for their artwork, inventions, homes, and classrooms, and we lead fun hands-on workshops to help you learn how "waste" can be fuel for art and education.  Our mission is to inspire creativity, conservation, and community engagement through reuse.
