Everyone has their own goals and definition of success. But how do you get from where you are now to where you want to be? What’s your next step? This three-part workshop series will help you identify a path based on your career goals, and develop the skills to move forward. Topics include:

Managing Your Online Social Networks for Professional Growth
Build your professional networks by getting the most out of online social networks. Come learn how to start, enhance, or perfect your professional identity on LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, and more. This workshop will provide you with the tips to tap into the potential of online networking.

Think Big: Identifying Goals and Set Priorities for Success

In this workshop you will gain insight to help you set goals for success in work and life. First we will explore the core values that motivate you. Then, we will work together to help you leverage your priorities and set goals for a successful and enriching career and life.

Mindfulness for Stress Reduction

In this workshop you will gain an introduction to mindfulness and meditation, as well as practice free, portable exercises (breathing, body scanning, and visualization) that will empower you to manage your stress while creating the career you want.

Come work with other motivated MIT young professionals and take a step toward building the career you want.

Presenters:

Stephanie Leishman, Social Media Strategist

Stephanie Leishman advises organizations and individuals on social media strategy. She frequently presents to audiences that range in size from 40 to 1,000. She has helped multiple organizations restructure their processes to optimize their use of social media. One of her interests is helping young professionals understand how to manage their online presence and use social media in a professional context.

Anna Robinson, M.A.; Work-Life Representative, MIT Work-Life Center

Anna Robinson, M.A., works as a Work-Life Representative at MIT where she responds to inquiries from the MIT community and provides consultations involving a significant level of specialized information on the center, MIT services, and work-life issues. Anna received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Vassar College, and her Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling and Behavioral Medicine from Boston University. Prior to joining MIT, Anna worked with nursery and elementary school aged children with special needs in school and hospital settings, and had the opportunity to provide counseling as a part of a mobile crisis intervention team, and at Boston University Student Health Services. Anna is certified in facilitative mediation through the Harvard Mediation Program and has a special interest in conflict resolution and effective communication.

Ronnie Mae Weiss, MSW; Senior Program Manager, MIT Work-Life Center

Ronnie Mae develops strategic work-life initiatives that are responsive to the needs of the diverse MIT community – faculty, postdoctoral scholars, staff and students alike. She provides individual consultations, seminars, support groups, and information and resources to support a wide range of work-life issues. In addition to her responsibilities at MIT, Ronnie Mae also writes articles about Family Travel for Parenthood.com.

Before joining MIT, Ronnie Mae was the Director of Talent Management, Planning and Programs and Work/Life Consultant for Harvard's Faculty of Arts and Sciences. She cofounded Parents in a Pinch, Boston's first on-call professional child care agency; directed Families First, a partnership between the Boston Children's Museum and Wheelock College; and developed innovative services at Work/Family Directions, a global Work/Family consulting firm.

Ronnie Mae received a Bachelor of Arts from Brandeis University and a Masters in Social Work from Yeshiva University.

Jennifer Earls, M.Ed.; Assistant Director, Prehealth Advising, MIT Global Education and Career Development

Jennifer Earls is a Career Services and Higher Education professional at MIT Global Education and Career Development and in her private career counseling practice called The Mindful Career Counselor. She is also very passionate about sharing mindfulness with others to support their wellbeing, especially at MIT through leading the monthly Community Wellness series Meditation for Your Wellbeing. Jennifer holds an M.Ed. from Suffolk University and a Certificate in Mindfulness & Psychotherapy from the Institute for Meditation and Psychotherapy; She is also in the process of completing the Koru Mindfulness Teacher Certification for teaching mindfulness to emerging adults. Outside of the office, she loves Salsa and Latin dancing, practicing yoga and meditation, and surfing.
