Getting subpoenaed is never easy, but you do need to be prepared. Join NASW VT and Laura Savall, Esq to identify your first steps - what you should do and not do. We will also review good documentation to ensure you are ready for (most) anything.

Learning objectives

  • Participants will be able to:
  • Describe the steps a clinician should take upon receiving a subpoena
  • Discuss pitfalls clinicians can avoid when subpoenaed
  • Explain the elements of good clinical documentation prior to being subpoenaed
  • Describe, in genera, the court process

About the Presenter

Laura Savall, Esq. After graduating from Ripon College in Wisconsin cum laude, Laura Savall moved to Vermont to attend Vermont Law School. After graduating Law School Laura managed the Bennington office for Have Justice -- Will Travel, Inc. as the staff attorney for both Bennington and Rutland counties. Laura has dedicated her work to advocating for survivors of domestic violence in family law matters. Through her work at Have Justice -- Will Travel and various Vermont Bar Association low bono cases, Laura earned the VBA ProBono award in 2022. In her downtime, Laura enjoys gardening, swimming, word puzzles, and gastronomy.
