UPDATE: We have sold out of seats for Friday’s Gala at Montalto. If you are still interested in joining us for Fall Weekend, please sign up for the waitlist, and we will be in touch if any seats become available. We will try to accommodate everyone!

Join us in Charlottesville on November 1 & 2, 2019 for the Serpentine Society’s 21st annual Fall Weekend! We have an exciting weekend planned to celebrate the people who have made this progress possible as we forge ahead towards a truly inclusive University.

Registration is all-inclusive. Your ticket includes access to Friday’s Gala at Montalto, the Bernard Mayes Award Luncheon in Garden IX, Saturday afternoon activities at Carter Mountain, and other events like the LGBTQ Center Open House in its brand-new location!

Transportation

Montalto, 931 Thomas Jefferson Parkway

  1. Drive yourself: Free parking will be available at the Monticello Visitor’s Center (931 Thomas Jefferson Pkwy, Charlottesville, VA 22902), if you would like to drive yourself. You will then need to take the shuttle up to Montalto- there will be signage.
  2. Take the shuttle: If you would like to take a shuttle directly to Montalto, they will be leaving at 6:00 p.m. sharp on Friday from the UVA Chapel (145 McCormick Road, Charlottesville, VA 22903) and then moving on to two hotels: the Hampton Inn & Suites which will depart by 6:15 PM (900 W. Main St, Charlottesville, VA 22903) and the Hyatt Place , which will depart at 6:30 PM (2100 Bond St, Charlottesville, VA 22901). There are 25 seats on each bus, and they will be first come, first served.

No guests will be allowed to park at Montalto unless you have accessibility needs (please contact Mariel Childress by 3 p.m. on Thursday, October 31 at mariel@virginia.edu if you do).

Carter Mountain, 1435 Carters Mountain Trail

  1. You’re welcome to drive yourself to Carter Mountain (1435 Carters Mountain Trail, Charlottesville, VA 22902) yourself.
  2. Take the shuttle: If you would like to take a shuttle to Carter Mountain, it will be depart from the UVA Chapel (145 McCormick Road, Charlottesville, VA 22903) at 1:30 p.m. and return by 5:00 p.m. There are 35 seats on the bus, and they will be first come, first served.

Friday, November 1st

LGBTQ Center Meet & Greet and History Wall Tour: 2:30pm at Newcomb

Stop by the LGBTQ Center’s new location on the 3rd floor of Newcomb (previously the Kaleidoscope room) to meet students, scholarship recipients, and other alumni.

Gala Cocktail Reception & Awards Dinner: 6:30pm at Montalto

Cocktails begin at 6:30pm at Repose, the restored home at the top of Montalto Mountain. Dinner will follow starting at 8PM. Parking & shuttle information is above.

Saturday, November 2nd

Bernard Mayes Award Luncheon: 11:30am at Garden IX

Carter Mountain Fall Festival, 1:30pm

We will provide tickets for a tractor ride and apple picking. You may also choose to participate in a wine tasting from Prince Michel or a cider tasting from Bold Rock.

Meal Choice

  • Horseradish Crusted Salmon: oven roasted Scottish Salmon, beurre fondue, pinor noir reduction, whipped Yukon gold potatoes, roasted French beans, pearl onions, garlic-herb butter
  • New York Strip: blackberry and port wine sauce, roasted root vegetable and fingerling potato hash, sautéed fall greens
  • Cassoulet (v, vegan & gf without spoon bread): Black eyed peas, smoked spaghetti squash, fall vegetable ragout, pepitas, crispy shitake, scallion spoonbread
