Celebrate Scratch Day, and the Western MA Scratch Community on May 7!

(Scratch Day 2016 is officially May 14th. We are hosting this event to allow people to join the Scratch events in Boston on May 14th.)

Join us at the Massachusetts Green High Performance Computing Center for a three-hour Scratch Meetup for Educators! BYOL (Bring Your Own Laptop), if possible.

A meetup is designed so participants can customize their learning based on their needs and interests. The meetup will include:

Networking (meet other Scratch educators) & Intros
Participatory schedule-building
Hands-on breakout sessions, such as:

Getting Started with Scratch
Scratch and LEGO WeDo
Scratch with Middle Schoolers
Scratch with High Schoolers

Discussion break-out sessions, such as:

Scratch & Scratch Ed online communities
Using Scratch in informal education, or with curricular areas or age groups
Teaching computing concepts with Scratch

Show & Tell, Lunch, Reflection

Who should attend?

Educators (teachers, youth educators, informal educators)
Beginners who would like to learn Scratch
Advanced Scratch users who would like to share project

What's Scratch?

Scratch is a programming language and online community where you can create your own interactive stories, games, and animations - and share your creations with others around the world. In the process of designing and programming Scratch porjects, young people learn to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively. Scratch is a project of the LifelongKindergarten group at the MIT Media Lab. It is available for free at http://scratch.mit.edu.

Parking at the Massachusetts Green High Performance Computing Center is convenient and free. Lunch and refreshments will be served. Please plan to bring your own laptop! Free wireless is available. A limited number of laptops will be available to borrow.
