I'm shocked Hiawatha Yoga doesn't have a single Google review--but I'm happy to be the first! I purchased a Groupon for a one month unlimited membership and attended my first class this morning, Early Bird Vinyasa with Rosemary. The studio is petite, cozy, and impeccably clean. Good parking, well marked, nice friendly neighborhood. There were only three people in my class, so Rosemary was able to give lots of one-on-one attention and offer modifications to keep us challenged. I liked that the only music playing was a very soft soundtrack of gongs/bells. This made it easy to hear Rosemary and wasn't distracting (unlike your typical yoga studio that plays Enya for an hour!). I could hear cars driving by and neighbors walking their dogs. I'm from New York, so city sounds are very nostalgic for me. If you have trouble concentrating you might find this noise distracting, but I liked it. I think the extra sounds help you feel connected to the neighborhood. I also spoke with the owner, Sue Redmond, on the phone and she was very helpful in suggesting classes I might like to attend. I plan to go three times/week with my unlimited pass. The studio also has a pay-by-class program where classes are purchased in packs of 5 or 10. Packs can be purchased on their website or in person which is convenient. Overall this is an especially nice studio, particularly for folks who are new to yoga or are interested in making healthier lifestyle choices. And if you're on a diet--beware of the Chatterbox Pub next door! Their food is delicious.
