Terrific! Modern updates, but a treasure over 100 years old steeped in tradition. Mahogany, brass, and marble details--beautiful! Very historical. Many monuments to events and groups of Texans during war on the surrounding grounds. Wonderful gift shop. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly.

This place is ginormous and beautiful! Ita a great place to go if you want to get some exercise, it would take hours to walk the entire place and absorb its wealth of history. There are also tons of conference spaces in the basement and a super cool natural light ceiling that allows visitors to stare directly at the tip top of the capitol.

Great building. Amazing architecture. There is lots of history attached to the building. Has photos paintings and statues of all the great people who have built the great state of Texas. Overall a good experience. Could have been great if the guide was better. Capitol offers free tours starting every 15 mins.

Outstanding tour (thank you Tim!) and lovely dome that is apparently 7 feet higher than the Capitol Building in D.C. Texas always does things bigger than anyone else! Fantastic opportunity to see the Texas House of Representatives in session dueling it out over various bills on the House floor. Great pictorial posters of each year's State Congressmen/women and Senators with baby photos of some of their grandchildren...some of those grandchildren also became state legislators.

Wow what a beautiful old building. Lots of memorials to look at. The grounds are absolutely manicured. You can really get a good workout climbing all of the stairs (if you don't wish to take the elevators) and walking from one end to the other. There is near by parking on the street and in the visitor's garage ($12/day max). I can say with certainty that this is the most secure place in TX. The guards carry guns, the legislators carry guns, and guest that have a carry permit can carry guns there (a uniquely Texas experience). No Terrorist is going to want to try and attack this building. The Cafeteria (Capitol Grill) is cheap and serves delicious food. There are many selections and there is sure to be something to please every diet out there. All in all this is a great place to bring your kids and learn about TX history
