I've attended several events here; and I had a pleasurable experience each time. The venue accommodates a goodly sized crowd considering the size of the building with plentiful seating and a friendly and helpful staff. I attended an underground film festival there a few years ago during SXSW and I was impressed at how smoothly it was run and the quality of the screening area.
It looks dumpy and small from the outside, but hey, so does Emo's. While parking can be difficult on bigger nights, the theaters inside can fit a good crowd. The only issue with the theaters inside, is that if you are sitting on the very end near a railing, you have to climb over about 7-8 people just to get out to use the restroom. It's like climbing your way out of a cramped airplane, only 2 1/2 times longer. "Donations" were accepted for alcohol, and we had to be told to keep quieter as there was another performance next door, and the walls weren't quite soundproof, but it is a nice local theater, running off money from the little local events they can squeeze in.
