This place has a bad reputation with the more trendy crowd in the city but that's mostly because of the crowd that comes here. Nevertheless the talent that plays here is amazing. The sound system is unmatched in SF.

The good: cool venue, great lighting, good sound... The bad...where to begin... My girlfriend and I got bottle service. $400 for entry, no waiting in line, a table/couch and a liter of booze. One expects a little bit of class and service if a venue is going to charge such a price...we received neither. We were told of the $400, $300 was to be used towards a bottle (expected)...any bottle was $300 (no matter what we chose, lol) 1. They let anyone in...no dress code AT ALL. Guys in board shorts and t shirt and everything in between...girls weren't much better either 2. Usually with bottle service, you at least get a hot girl to wait on you...we had Kyle, he was a nice enough guy, fairly attentive and catered to us...there was one of the servers that came by and said "do you need anything" after we first sat down...I told her we just ordered our bottle with Kyle...and before I could even ask if she could add bring us some bottled water as well, she turned her back and disappeared, never saying another word to us again or even acknowledging we existed... 3. they've considerably raised their prices, and what they consider top shelf is a joke...jack daniels, malibu, and cazadores are not anywhere near top shelf...$300 for any of these...I get the whole charge stupid amounts of money for booze, I don't care about that...but the principal of calling this top shelf makes me laugh 4. On 2 occasions, our ice bucket had turned into slosh water...we made due and eventually it was refreshed both times Bottom line: Ruby Skye is a cool venue and pulls some great DJs. It sucks any riff raff can come in...there's just no class. Bottle service was an absolute (pun not intended) joke and was the worst bottle service I've ever had anywhere

Very nice setup. Must've been an old theatre. High sealing and big open space

Hmmm I got nothing planned this weekend....what should we do? GO TO EFFING RUBY SKYE!$%^^@!!! Seriously, if I feel like going out on a random night of fun, this place is the first thing I think of. As a fan of electronic music, this review is 100% biased. This place basically caters to people like me, and it's great. Big DJs and producers are consistently booked, but I actually have more fun when the headliner is someone slightly less popular (Cazzette, Arty, BT, Cosmic Gate, etc.). Less people = more room to dance. It's very accessible by public transportation if you don't want to deal with parking, and entry is pretty straight forward. There are free guestlist nights, and the bouncers haven't given me any problems. I also enjoy that the dress code is pretty lax. I've shown up in everything from t-shirt and jeans to a full blown tailored suit, and I appreciate that whatever I feel like wearing is welcome to party. Dress to express, not impress. Inside, the ceilings are tall, and the space is open with tasteful Victorian style decor. A stellar sound system with numerous speaker clusters and floor standing subwoofers fills the entire area with heart pounding beats. Most importantly, the ventilation system works REALLY well to keep the dance floor from boiling. Let's be real, being sweat on is one of the worst parts of more steamy clubs. Also, don't expect the drinks to be any different from other clubs. You can do yourself a favor and come early for a stamp, walk to Rickhouse, enjoy some drinks and/or punch bowls, then come back to fist pump the night away. I don't know what else there is to say besides that I hope this place is here to stay. I'm always down to go shuffle on the dance floor! Untz Untz Untz Untz
