Seems to be becoming a refuge for homeless, mentally ill, and lost persons, as well as readers, those who make use of the library services and people. I never thought libraries need security guards and cameras everywhere, but here we are.

My experience is mixed. I ordered film from Ontario through inter-library loan service to view some church records from the 1870s. Pontiac Library came through within a week. That part is great. However, the viewing machine for these type films are designed to sit in dark areas. At the Pontiac Library, the viewer sits under a bank of bright lights and in front of a south facing window. The glare makes the machine useless. To my great disappointment, I had to return the film. No AC Overall, I avoid this library. More than 1/2 the clientele don't belong anywhere near a library. The library is always filled with the homeless, nursing mothers and crying babies. The bank of PCs are occupied with some just sitting at PC's casing the patrons, some chatting on dating sites, and others sitting with their pants around their ankles surfing porn.

I found most of the staff very helpful and friendly. Other staff members had vacant expressions on their face as if they were somewhere else (meditation?). The computer system was easy to use. The decor is a bit drab, and the kids section seemed "unattended" by it's staff.
