Perhaps the best bartenders in town are located here. Every cocktail I've ever had at LRD has been fabulous, as has been the staff. A small but great detail of the menu is that each drink is displayed with the its expected glass style. A nice touch I wish was customary everywhere. As an added bonus, the food is very good. I will admit, this came as a surprise to me as I first visited with the pre-conceived notion that a distillery likely lacks an ability to make good food. I'm glad I was wrong. The snacks and sandwiches offered all fit the cocktail selection superbly. P.S. - Order some of their excellent deviled eggs and the cold fashioned cocktail with bourbon.
Good knowledgeable staff, food is fresh and well prepared. The house made liquors are competent but nothing really to write home about. For example the Bourbon whiskey here is $45 a bottle but it's on par with a bottle of base Jim Beam, whereas you could buy a bottle of single barrel Four Roses for that. As an experience, this is a great addition to the Grand Rapids dining scene.
The vodka is smooth but not tasteless. The G & T on tap is genius. My gin drinking friends rave about their gin. The menu is somewhat limited in options, but I've enjoyed everything I've tried, especially the salads and the pickled vegetables. Service has been gracious and quick on each of my visits. Another thing I like about this place is that it works well for small groups of 6-8 with the seating options. On my regular rotation now.
