Permanent exhibits worth a visit. Some exhibitions too editorial about poverty, housing etc to be interesting or informative.

A terrific museum!!! Very eclectic with exhibits tag range from art to social action and technology. Housed in the beautiful old Carnegie mansion, it's also a terrific place to have a glass of wine in the gardens of an industrialist's mansion.

The bulk of the exhibits when I visited were about the process of design involving the public. My particular interests are more in objects by individual designers and the history of design movements, which were lightly represented. However, the displays that did cover those were well explained, and the museum building was interesting in itself.

Recently remodeled, interesting infographics and design artifacts in a beautiful mansion. Only downside is that it's not free like other Smithsonians

I'm only giving the Cooper Hewitt four stars because the 3rd floor was closed when I visited. However I'm sure when all floors are open it will deserve the five star rating many people have already given it. By the way, the Cooper Hewitt seems to be the only museum using non-reflective glass for its displays. I wish more museums and galleries did the same. A previous reviewer complained about the Café at the Museum. Unfortunately the cafe is far too small for the Museum, and the three staffers, while doing their best to meet demand, were clearly struggling with the workload while I was there. Finally, because the third floor was closed when I visited, the Museum had reduced the adult entry price to just $5. Nice one, folks :-)
