I have been part of the Blue Lotus community for many years. It is a beautiful community and fully inclusive. Buddhism is a practice of mindfulness and compassion. If you want to be embraced by a spiritual community as you learn meditation and how to eliminate suffering while being a vessel of joy and peace you definitely should visit.
The most welcoming and loving place you can imagine. The Monks and Nun are full of kindness and compassion that just simply radiates from them. No matter what your religious background or beliefs, the Blue Lotus never challenges or questions them in any way. The teachings are about universal love, kindness and compassion for all beings, and the connectedness that we each have to one another. Just a beautiful place!
The Blue Lotus Temple has meditation classes at several locations. In Woodstock, it's at the Unitarian Church which is where I went. The monks are from Sri Lanka and guide the meditation classes. Afterward there is a question and answer session and the insights they share are nothing short of spectacular. Everyone is welcome and there is no charge, just a donation basket. Everyone was really nice and I was very comfortable with the whole experience. I would definitely recommend going to a class if you are at all interested in meditation or Buddhist philosophy.
