    Great program

Currently a student, and dont understand the bad reviews. The entrance test is a tiny hurdle to most get over. Its Algebra, I learned most of that in middle school… not difficult at all and you have more then enough time. This program offers soo much and the wait is absolutely worth it. Im a 3rd year apprentice and can vouch. The only money thats spent is on books ($100-$200 a year) and your OWN tools you will need to work in your field. There is no pressue to collect every single tool the first year. Gradually you will get every tool you need while making great money and getting college credits. Theres a long wait for a reason, its a great program. 100s of ppl complete it and have successful careers, dont let the few who don't, pursuade you otherwise.

The Entrance Exam consists of 3 sections. One Reading section and two Math sections. Each section has 25 questions. Two sections have a time limit of 25 mins and one section has a time limit of 15 mins. One math section you are able to use calculators and the other section you are not. Why? Because you are going to be working in construction and should be able to calculate basic math problems without a calculator, in addition to, the exam being a state requirement. If you fail the exam, you will be allowed to take the exam a second time and a Test Preparation Review flyer will be sent to you so you can study the material. If you fail to utilize the resources on the flyer to study then, yes, you may possibly fail again but that is to no fault of ABC because you are provided resources to help you study. If you fail the exam twice or do not show up for the exam twice in a row then your application will be voided in order to give other people an opportunity to take the exam. I'm not sure why people are saying "don't waste your money" when ABC actually finds you a job with a contractor who also pays for your education. The only out of pocket expense apprentices have are purchasing their tools for their job and their textbook for class. It is true that there can be an extensive wait time but that is because applications are accepted daily with no deadline and that creates a pool of applicants. Test dates and Interview dates are only scheduled as work becomes available with the contractors, so yes, the wait time can take awhile but if you attend your scheduled test/interview dates and study the material that is provided to you...there should be no issue with having to reapply because of your application being voided. =)

Was a plumbing Apprentice there for 2 years before I quit plumbing, not sure what these guys are whining about, you just can't be an idiot, learn the material, and take the tests?? All the instructors I had were pretty laid back, it's a pretty good program.

DONT WASTE YOU TIME WITH THIS DAMN STUPID PLACE. THE GIVE YOU A TEST AND NEED TO ANSWER 30 -50 QUESTION IN 25 MINUTES OR LESS. PART IN MATHEMATICS ASK YOU TO SOLVE PERCENTAGES FRACTIONS AND WORD PROBLEMS AND EXPECT YOU TO SOLVE IT IN A MINUTE. IM A MECHANICAL ENGINEER STUDENT AND HAVE TAKEN CALCULUS 1,2,3 AND DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME. THEY FAILED ME 2 TIMES AND MADE ME WAIT 3 YEARS AGAIN. SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.
