Why are you requesting my taxpayer information (non-U.S. citizens)

U.S. tax laws require all Eventbrite users to submit taxpayer information if they process more than 200 orders with Eventbrite Payment Processing. Non-U.S. citizens should complete eblink{Form W-8=>https://www.irs.gov/uac/about-form-w8 target=_blank} (e.g., W-8BEN, W-8BEN-E, other) to confirm you're exempt from U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) reporting requirements. As you approach the threshold (200 orders), we’ll reach out to request that you eblink{fill out your Form W-8=>https://www.eventbrite.com/organizations/taxpayer-information/} (“Taxpayer Information” on the Account Settings page).

PRO TIP: If you're a U.S. citizen collecting payments abroad, you'll want to eblink{submit a Form W-9=>https://www.eventbrite.com/support/articleredirect?anum=6659} instead.

NOTE: If you don’t eblink{enter your taxpayer information=>https://www.eventbrite.com/organizations/taxpayer-information} before you exceed 200 orders, Eventbrite is required to withhold all future event payouts until the form is completed.

<h2 id="01">Why we need your taxpayer information</h2> <p>Eventbrite needs your &quot;<a href="https://www.eventbrite.com/organizations/taxpayer-information" target="_blank">Taxpayer Information</a>&quot; to confirm that you&#39;re a non-U.S. citizen exempt from the IRS reporting requirements. The information we collect is found on your <a href="https://www.irs.gov/uac/about-form-w8" target="_blank">Form W-8</a>(e.g., W-8BEN, W-8BEN-E, other). You can enter it as early as you’d like. As a reminder to enter your information, we’ll notify you when you reach the following order thresholds :</p> <ul><li>100 orders: We&#39;ll send an email to the primary account holder&#39;s email address.</li><li>125 orders: We&#39;ll display a banner requesting taxpayer information on the Manage Events Manage Events page when <a href="https://www.eventbrite.com/login" target="_blank">logged in</a> to the primary account.</li><li>201 orders: We&#39;ll send a second email to the primary account holder&#39;s email address. We&#39;ll also display a banner on various pages when logged in to the primary account.</li></ul> <p class="text-small l-pad-vert-2 l-pad-hor-2 card l-mar-top-2">TIP: The 200 order threshold includes every transaction processed in your Eventbrite account. This includes <a href="https://www.eventbrite.com/support/articleredirect?anum=3399" target="_blank">refunded orders</a>.</p> <h2 id="02">Information we collect</h2> <p>The information we collect appears on a Form W-8 (e.g., <a href="https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw8ben.pdf" target="_blank">W-8BEN</a>, <a href="https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw8bene.pdf" target="_blank">W-8BEN-E</a>, <a href="https://www.irs.gov/forms-pubs/about-form-w-8" target="_blank">other</a>) and should be entered into the <a href="https://www.eventbrite.com/organizations/taxpayer-information" target="_blank">Taxpayer Information</a> section of your Eventbrite account. Here are a few tips to get you started:</p> <ul><li>Individual/Organization Name: Enter the name of the beneficial owner or include your incorporation/organization name.</li><li>Permanent Residence Address: Enter a physical address.</li><li>Mailing Address: Enter a mailing address.</li><li>Your electronic signature: Type in your full name, which will be your electronic signature.</li></ul> <p class="text-small l-pad-vert-2 l-pad-hor-2 card l-mar-top-2">TIP: If you need to set Eventbrite up as a vendor or simply need it for reference, download our current <a href="https://cdn.evbstatic.com/s3-s3/static/images/en_US/account/Eventbrite_W9.pdf" target="_blank">Form W-9</a>.</p> <p class="text-small l-pad-vert-2 l-pad-hor-2 card l-mar-top-2">PRO TIP: When completing the W-8BEN-E you must also define “Type of Entity” for your organization.</p> <p class="text-small l-pad-vert-2 l-pad-hor-2 card l-mar-top-2">NOTE: Eventbrite can only collect taxpayer information from one party. If you&#39;re collecting funds for a third party or multiple organizers, please contact your tax advisor for advice on how to complete your Form W-8 (e.g., W-8BEN, W-8BEN-E, other).</p> <h2 id="03">How to provide your taxpayer information</h2> <p>Taxpayer Information is only available to the primary account holder. A subuser will not be able to complete the Form W-8 (e.g., W-8BEN, W-8BEN-E, other) from within their account.</p> <ol><li><a href="https://www.eventbrite.com/login" target="_blank">Log in</a> to your Eventbrite account</li><li>Go to your <a href="https://www.eventbrite.com/account" target="_blank">Account Settings</a>.</li><li>Go to &quot;Organizer&quot; and select <a href="https://www.eventbrite.com/organizations/taxpayer-information" target="_blank">Taxpayer Information</a>.</li><li>Select your tax status and complete the secure digital form that appears</li><li>Click submit.</li></ol> <p><br>Once you&#39;ve completed the form, you&#39;ll receive an email confirmation from Eventbrite.<br><br>If you need help filling out the tax form, review the form instructions for W-9 available on the IRS website.<br><br>To update your tax form, click on the three dots and select “Edit”. After making changes, go to Step 4 and click “Submit”.</p>
