Mark your calendars: Thursday, Feb. 22 is National Margarita Day. Raise a glass—hopefully filled with tequila-y, lime-y goodness—in tribute at any one of these bars and eateries serving up the best margs Philly has to offer.
Have your drink any number of ways: on the rocks, up, or frozen. They’ve got several flavors made with fresh fruit puree, too, like blood orange, strawberry, guava, mango, and more. Between seven special variations—including a cucumber and jalapeño version and a blood orange, passion fruit, pomegranate, and chili concoction—you’ll never run out of options.
The South Philly Cantina outpost also serves up a mean marg. Here you can get your beverage on the rocks, up, or frozen as well, and in a variety of flavors: blood orange, strawberry, passion fruit, mango, pineapple, guava, and cucumber. Expect special margaritas that are similar to the NoLibs site, like the cucumber and jalapeño drink.
At Jose Garces’ Mexican spot, you can get a traditional margarita with Sauza Blue tequila, orange liqueur, and fresh lime juice. Upgrade it to a frozen version, or upgrade once more to their signature margarita, El Jefe (Jose Garces double barrel Patrón, Cointreau, lime).
Between their seven margarita options, all tastes will be satiated. They’ve got a jalapeño version, a low-calorie option, fruity mixtures (watermelon, blood orange, and pomegranate) and an option that’s a little spicy in their chipotle margarita (Cazadores Blanco, St. Germain elderflower liqueur, chipotle pineapple, and lime juice).
Aside from your traditional and blood orange margaritas, El Vez mixes up the Pink Cadillac (silver tequila, orange nectar, fresh orange, lime, and cranberry juices), Pineapple Canela (Sauza Blue tequila, orange nectar, fresh lime juice, pineapple purée, cinnamon, and spices), Mezcal margarita, and more.
The major selling point here is the $10 off pitchers during happy hour from 4 to 6pm on weekdays. Get it traditional, fruity (mango, strawberry, guava), or mix some flavors.
Go full vacation mode with the Tropical Margarita (mango, pineapple, strawberry-infused tequila, lime, and orange liqueur) or spice it up with a margarita mixed with a house chili blend. They’ve got eight options to choose from with a number of tequilas to include in each.
Aside from their massive menu that encompasses everything from dips to seafood, Las Margaritas also offers a 32-ounce frozen and on the rocks margarita. (Don’t worry, they’ve got smaller sizes, too.) Choose your tequila of choice and add some fruity flavor, like mango or pomegranate. They’ve even got after-dinner coffee versions.
Though their classic margarita hits the spot just fine, it’s their variations on the traditional that are goodies, too. Try the pineapple-infused tequila drink or the chipotle-infused tequila version to mix it up.
Try a French twist on the Mexican beverage with a tequila blanco, St. Germain, and limonada mixture, or timeless versions like pomegranate, blood orange, and cucumber jalapeño.
Hear us out here. Yes, this is a Vietnamese spot in Chinatown, but their margarita (in a simple classic version) is pretty great. And the fact that it only costs you $5 makes it even better.
Where else can you get a margarita infused with rose petals? As their name implies, tequila is something they know well. They’ve also got a marg devoted to the Eagles’ Brent Celek including Siembra Azul Blanco tequila, VEEV, fresh lime, Licor 43, and agave nectar.
