Zeta Psi was established on June 1st, 1847 at New York University by John Bradt Yate Sommers, Willian Henry Dayton, and John Moon Skillman and currently has 51 active chapters. Zeta Psi is the only fraternity to have chapters at all Ivy league universities at the same time, the first coast to coast (1870), the first in Canada (1879) and now has chapters at the University of Oxford and St. Andrews University. The University of Chicago Omega chapter was initially chartered back in 1864 at the Old University of Chicago, but burned down before the turn of the century. After a long absence, the chapter got re-chartered and renamed Omega Alpha in spring 2013. The University of Chicago Omega Alpha Chapter has put a big emphasis on philanthropy, partnering up with Make-A-Wish® Illinois this year, and is direct involvement in local community service projects from assisting Greek organizations outside of the University of Chicago community to working at the local food pantry. With equal importance, we value academic merit and scholarship, and have been sending brothers to Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan for investment banking, UN conference as Guest Speakers, UChicago neurobiology department and MIT for research.
