Our roots at the top of the Dundee Hills are old and deep. The Winters immigrated from Germany, and founded our farm in 1961, purchasing orchards and cropland. The next generation, Peter & Emily Gladhart, renewed the land by planting the South facing, red clay slopes to Pinot noir and Pinot gris in 1990. Their son and winemaker Russell, and his wife Delphine Gladhart make up the third generation to renew Winter’s Hill Vineyard. Russell and Delphine both studied winemaking and viticulture in Burgundy, and developed their practical experience in France, New Zealand, and Oregon.
Winter's Hill wines are made exclusively from grapes grown in our estate vineyard. The vines are pruned and harvested by hand. Our experience with the small blocks of vines allows us to adjust our viticultural and winemaking techniques in response to the variations in each season.
This is our life’s work. We are continuously walking the vine rows, tending our wines, and meeting our customers. Winter’s Hill supports our family, the environment, and our community.
Our spectacular location for growing and making Pinot noir is unmatched. Come and explore our vineyard and grounds, or just sit down and soak in the view with a glass of wine. Tastings are conducted within the winery – you can see, smell, and understand how we make our wine.
