The College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources (CTAHR) Waimanalo Research Station was established in 1955 on 128 acres to promote diversified agriculture. For over 60 years the Station has worked closely with growers in the ahupua'a and across the state to disseminate science-based information to help solve problems facing our producers. Initiated in 2012, CTAHRs Waimanalo Learning Center (WLC) welcomes thousands of community members to the station each year to improve awareness of the stations research activities and support 'aina-based education of our keiki and their 'ohana. Current research and other activities include breeding and selecting food crops for sustainable local production, apiculture (Bee Program), bioenergy crops, certified organic agriculture, aquaponics and beginner farmer training.
