Urban Sketchers is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising the artistic, storytelling and educational value of location drawing, promoting its practice and connecting people around the world who draw on location where they live and travel. We aim to show the world, one drawing at a time.

The USk Orlando Chapter has been established in July 2016. Since then we've introduced to our community in Orlando and Ctr. FL the Urban Sketchers approach in the arts.

What is “urban sketching”? Unlike making art in a studio, urban sketching is about capturing life, wherever that life is - on the sidewalk, in our neighborhood parks, in cafes, or in other public places. Instead of drawing from photos or our minds, we sketch from direct observation. The Urban Sketchers manifesto we follow encourages telling the stories of our surroundings through our drawings and sharing them online.

For the second year, Urban Sketchers Orlando chapter is taking part in the 10x10 Urban Sketchers worldwide initiative to offer educational workshops to our Ctr. FL Community and guests who are visiting Orlando.

We are pleased to offer a ten workshops series during the Spring and Fall of 2018 in Orlando, FL.

Five Major Talent Instructing Artists in the know will teach the set of ten workshops, each bringing to the table their unique artistic skills and knowledge in storytelling, sketch reportage, on location, from observation, urban sketching art methods.

In this program, you will be introduced to :

Digital sketching; Direct Watercolor painting; Pen line-types techniques for visual emphasis, weight, and detail;  Integration of people into your sketch; Sketching people - Yes!; Quick capturing of movements, gesture, walking, and details on figures; Framing your story in urban settings;  Landscape drawing tips; Illusion of depth tricks with cityscape as a background.
