Translational Research Program

The Translational Research Program (TRP) at the Institute of Medical Science, University of Toronto, focuses on training students to identify opportunities and gaps; develop and test ideas; and generate problem-solving designs in collaborative teams. The program features the incorporation of design principles such as iteration, prototyping, evaluation and testing in the translational research process. Students develop capstone projects within a course-based curriculum that incorporates core courses, modules and electives that engage with the research, industry and academic communities to implement, evaluate and refine problem-solving ideas. Through this design thinking and experiential learning approach we help link students to larger networks of translational research, help develop ideas that impact people, patients, populations, pathways, policies, procedures and products.
