Thriving In Public Health Series

We are two experienced public health professionals collaborating on a career development series called Thriving In Public Health. The mission of this initiative is to aid students and professionals achieve success within public health academics and the workforce, through the use of webinars, Questions & Answer sessions, and other resources.

About the webinar hosts

Vanessa Da Costa is a Data Analysis Advisor (Contractor) at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Founder of Chilombo Global Career Services. She holds a Master of Public Health degree in Global Epidemiology, from The Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University. She has over 7 years of experience at the intersection of global health programming and data analytics. She has previously worked at CDC South Africa, the Rwanda Zambia HIV Research Group, the Georgia Emerging Infections Program, University of North Carolina (UNC) Chapel Hill, and the Duke Global Health Institute.

Frances Dean is a dual degree student pursuing a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in General Epidemiologic Methods (with a Social Epidemiology focus), and a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree in Interpersonal/Direct Practice at The University of Michigan. She is the Founder of Create, Critique and Revise Wizard and currently holds 3+ years of experience at the federal and state level, including with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and National Institutes of Health (NIH). Upon graduation, she will be working with the Department of Defense (DoD) as an Epidemiologist in the Washington DC-Baltimore Metropolitan area. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion (BSHP), cum laude, from The University of Georgia College of Public Health.
