The Special Needs Parent Café is a warm, comfortable, and safe place for parents raising children with special needs (developmental, behavioral and mental health) to participate in professionally facilitated parent discussion groups; as well as individual, couples and family counseling; social events, and educational forums that support families on the journey of raising a child with special needs.
Many support groups are child focused and place more emphasis on educating the parents on how to support their child with special needs. While this is great and often helpful to many families, our approach is different.
We are about addressing family relationships, family life and the social emotional needs of parents.
As a parent of a child with special needs, one of the best things you can do for yourself and your family is to find a parent group that supports your growth as a parent and a family. Parent groups can be rich in information and guidance. There is much to be gained from the experiences of other parents, their perspectives, coping strategies; as well as the opportunity to address feelings and emotions that are unique to parents raising children with special needs.
