The Reston Chorale

The Reston Chorale has excited audiences with its musical excellence and versatility for 50 years. The Chorale was established to provide Western Fairfax County and the Greater Washington DC Metropolitan Area with the finest in choral music performance produced by amateur and professional musicians from the community.

The Chorale is a mixed-voice chorus with a full repertoire that varies in style from great choral masterworks of Bach and Beethoven to the American classics of Gershwin and Copland. Our mission is to educate, enrich, and inspire our audiences in Northern Virginia as well as our members through the performance of choral music of the highest quality.

The Reston Chorale is also proud to provide the opportunity for local composers, musicians, singers and audience to participate in the creation of new music. In addition to presenting the world premiere of Donald McCullough's The Essential Life, the Chorale has also commissioned and premiered works by American composers James Grant, Daniel Gawthrop, David Ott, Scott Solak and others. In March 2004, the Chorale premiered a Julius Williams composition, A Journey to Freedom, Honor and Glory, celebrating the life of civil rights martyr Jonathan Daniels.

The Chorale has performed throughout the greater Washington, D.C. area in such venues as the John F. Kennedy Center, Wolf Trap, the George Mason University Center for the Performing Arts and the Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall and Arts Center. In addition, the Chorale has been featured several times with the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra, and has sung with the Amadeus Orchestra and the Reston Community Orchestra, as well as Arlington, Alexandria, Prince William and Virginia Chamber orchestras.
