The National Convention of Gospel Choirs & Choruses, Inc.

Dr. Thomas A. Dorsey, the “Father of Gospel Music” and writer of over 400 compositions including “Take My Hand, Precious Lord,” founded the National Convention of Gospel Choirs and Choruses (NCGCC) in 1933 after recognizing a need to organize gospel choirs collectively into unions. It is recorded in history as the first convention of its kind and continues to thrive eight decades later.

The NCGCC annual session is a week-long convention designed to foster and promote an appreciation and high standard of excellence for gospel music and gospel music performance. The convention uniquely expands the horizons of gospel music for persons of all ages throughout culturally diverse environments and through interdenominational fellowships.

The week’s events consist of daily classes and workshops, plenary sessions featuring world renowned musical artists and guest speakers, nightly concerts and a host of other activities for anyone who desires to better themselves as a Christian singer, instrumentalist, educator or leader in the area of Gospel music.
