The Institution of Engineers (India) - Qatar Chapter

“The Institution of Engineers (India)”, is a largest professional body of engineers, established in the year 1920 and incorporated by Royal Charter in 1935. IEI operates through, 120 Centres in India and 6 Overseas Chapters, having a membership base over 200,000 Corporate Members from 15 engineering disciplines. IEI represents India in several international bodies and has wide international network. IEI also a member of the International Professional Engineers Agreement (IPEA).

The Institution of Engineers (India) functions with and amongst the professional engineers, academicians and research workers and provides a vast array of technical, professional and supporting services to the government and the industries along with the academic and engineering communities.

The Institution of Engineers (India) offer technical services to its members through a variety of technical activities such as seminars, symposia, continuing education courses, workshops, paper meetings, conventions, conferences, etc. at both national and international levels; providing access to R & D activities and engineering practices through engineering and technological disciplines; and many more..

The Institution of Engineers (India) has also established :- Engineering Staff College of India (ESCI) for providing continuing education;  National Design and Research Forum (NDRF) to encourage design talents in engineering and technology; Rural Development Forum (RDF) to encourage and promote multifaceted development of rural India; Water management forum (WMF) to promote and advance the engineering and practice of water resources managements in its totality; The sustainable Development Forum (SDF) for expression of authoritative views on technologies for sustainable development and for enunciating practical solutions to the problems faced by India; Safety and Quality Forum (SQF) to address the aspect of safety and quality in engineering profession.

Qatar Chapter of the Institution of the Engineers (India) was established in July 1991 for the benefit of its members residing and practicing engineering profession in Qatar. Qatar Chapter as a non-profit professional organization, operates under the sponsorship of the Indian Embassy in Qatar and under the patronage of the Ambassador of India. In the last 26 years of operation, this chapter now become the most active and resourceful overseas chapter of the Institution.

Qatar Chapter offers an excellent platform for career & personality development and professional networking. We are conducting various seminars, workshops to share and disseminate the technical knowledge for professional development of engineering fraternity in Qatar. The Certificate of Participation is considered for accumulating CPD units, by various engineering institutions globally. We are also celebrating Engineer's Day every year to commemorate the birthday of the legendary engineer Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya.

Membership of IEI Qatar Chapter is open to any accredited graduate engineer. Our members includes Chartered/Professional Engineers from public, private and joint sector organizations.
