The Heritage Trail Association, Inc.

The Heritage Trail Association, Inc. was formed in 1994 by people who had a vision of keeping Somerset County history and historic places alive and exposed to the public at large.

Now in its 25th year, HTA provides originally written narrated bus tours, monthly speakers and many other events throughout the year.

The Middlebrook Theatrical Society has become a part of HTA with many Trustees also serving as reenactors in our interactive guided tours highlighted during Somerset County's Weekend Journey Through the Past in October each year.

If you are interested in American History, talk to us about volunteering with us!

The Historic Philip Van Horne House was built in 1750 and was the home of the Van Horne's who welcomed British and Americans equally.  The Van Horne house, also known as Convivial Hill , hosted Lord Cornwallis, Captain Ewald, General Lincoln, General Greene, Lord Stirling and more, and has a prominent place in the Battle of Bound Brook of 1777.
