The Henry George School of Social Science

Based in New York City, the Henry George School of Social Science aims to promote the philosophies of Henry George—a Gilded Age economist and social reformer best known for his “Single Tax” on land which can reframe our understanding of land from private property to a public good, with broad repercussionsGeorge was also an advocate of free trade and believed monopolies to be detrimental to the health of the economy and society.Through free classes, seminars, events, and online resources visitors can learn about George’s progressive beliefs and proposed solutions to some of today’s most pressing issues including the rise of monopolies and their effect on wealth creation and distribution, tax policy, economic justice, and urban and environmental policy.
