The Anti-Poverty Coalition of Greater Dallas

The Anti-Poverty Coalition of Greater Dallas (APC) builds community support for policies and initiatives that improve the financial health of hard-working families. The APC is most well-known for coordinating and leading efforts in North Texas to fight predatory lending practices. In Spring 2011, the APC gathered the community together to call on the Dallas City Council to protect our neighbors from the predatory practices of payday and auto-title lenders, and in June 2011, the City of Dallas was the first city in the nation to adopt a regulatory ordinance on payday and auto-title loan businesses. While we continue to fight for payday lending reform, we have advocated for other anti-poverty efforts, like the City of Dallas’ support of volunteer income tax assistance (VITA) and expanded obtainment of earned income tax assistance credits (EITC) by Dallas residents.
