The African SOUP is a community development organization operating in Uganda that advances active learning educational opportunities for our students, teachers, and community members. Our rural programs work in tandem with our national education initiative to deliver a model of education that engages learners, develops community, and inspires leaders across Uganda.
The SOUP began in 2009 as simply a feeding program for orphans and vulnerable children in rural Uganda. In six years, we have grown from a feeding program to a burgeoning community development organization that impacts nearly 1,000 community members, holistically educates 400 vulnerable children, and has since scaled into national education reform. Today, the SOUP has fully invested in the future of these children, this community, and in the country of Uganda. We provide a “hand up” – not a “hand out” – to those who dream big.
