Texas System Police Training

In January 2010, a group of police officers and inspectors from various departments within The University of Texas (UT) met in Austin and formed the Texas System Police Association (TSPA). The idea behind the organization was to give voice to the concerns of the campus and Independent School District Police Personnel. The TSPA is committed to police officer retirement reform within the Teacher Retirement System. Currently, an officer in TRS will retire with an annual income about 10% lower than an officer in ERS. The TSPA represents its members before the Texas Legislature, State University Boards of Regents, their Chancellors, College Boards of Trustees, and ISD School Boards.

In 2016, TSPA began offering low cost training for members and non-members alike through the TSPA Training Division.  The Training Division has had the privilege of training many officers.  TSPA is also the first organization to teach the Texas Transgender Training course.  Currently, TSPA is the largest and most proactive Police Officer Association representing all college, university and ISD Police employees in the State of Texas.
