Taste West Wine Events

Taste West brings the wine country tasting room experience to the city in intimate urban settings. Discover handcrafted West Coast wines and feel the charm of wine country right here in the Bay Area.

Visiting wine country is fun, but sometimes there isn't time for a day trip to Napa or Sonoma, much less a longer drive to the Central Coast, Sierra Foothills, Paso Robles, Santa Barbara County, or the Willamette and Rogue Valleys in Oregon

As a San Francisco start-up, our goal is to deliver highly curated pop-up wine tasting events that feature wines from rotating West Coast regions — without the travel time or expense and with less worry about drinking and driving.

Each Taste West event will offer generous pours from several wineries accompanied by gourmet appetizers. The winemakers or the tasting room managers are also always present to talk passionately and knowledgeably about the wines they love and the viti-cultural region where they live and work. Each event also offers the opportunity to order wine or sign-up for wine clubs.

Simply because there are so many good, small production wines coming from California, Oregon and Washington State that deserve to be better known. And because we believe in supporting local grape growers and vintners and in the adage, “Think globally, drink locally.”

The wines we pour are true artisanal products. Most of our wineries make only a few thousand cases each year, and some even less. These wines aren't normally seen on retail shelves, as most are sold direct-to-consumer through wine clubs and rural tasting rooms. We've carefully sourced some of the best -- and best values -- to give you an opportunity to discover new wines close to home, and to try before you buy.

We've found great indoor-outdoor venues in San Francisco that make you feel like you're in the wine country. We invite only a small number of wineries to pour -- five at the Stable Cafe, our venue in the Mission, and a few more at the Clubhouse at the Presidio Golf Course, a larger space. We keep our attendance to a maximum of about 125 to ensure that you can good access to the tasting stations and the winemakers. Our events offer more wine variety than a winemaker dinner at a lower price and more intimacy and a more outdoorsy feeling than the huge wine festivals in the city, with their dozens and dozens of wineries and hundreds and hundreds of attendees. We think our format is unique and appealing. Join us, give us feedback, and tell us if you agree!
