Southwest Sound is a men's a cappella performing chorus based on the four part close harmony barbershop style of singing and consists of members who meet each Monday night to enjoy singing barbershop music. The Chorus is a chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, an international organization with over 24,000 members whose beginnings go back to 1938 in Tulsa Oklahoma.
Our Mission is to promote four part a cappella style music through education and quality entertaining performances as well as to actively pursue ways to serve the community by providing performances, involvement in charitable activities, and contributions to charitable organizations.
Southwest Sound rehearsals start at 7:00 PM every Monday evening at the St. Christopher's Episcopal Church located at 3550 SW Loop 820 in Fort Worth. Most of our members have no professional musical training and range from painters and laborers to doctors and engineers. But it is not a member's profession or musical background that makes this experience so rewarding. It is rather the satisfaction, camaraderie and experience of being a part of a group of average men who come together from all walks of life to successfully produce such a powerful sound so unique to this true American musical form. We will help you learn what you need to know to join us in song.
If you are at all interested in participating in a very upbeat and positive singing experience, we encourage you to make the effort to visit one of our rehearsals. Why not bring a friend with you to share this great experience! We are eager to introduce you to this fun hobby and let you experience first hand how your participation in the barbershop style of singing can enrich your musical enjoyment and how your contributions can benefit this fine non-profit organization. You will leave with an uplifted spirit by singing with other men who truly enjoy this unique American style of vocal expression.
