Sophienburg Museum & Archives

The Sophienburg Museum & Archives, whose mission is Creating Connections and Enriching Lives through the Power of History, is located on the very grounds where German immigrants, led by Prince Carl of Solms/Braunfels, established their headquarters and first seat of government. Through our collection of artifacts, documents and photographs, we tell the real stories of New Braunfels, preserving the heritage, culture and traditions that help make our city the second fastest growing city in the nation.  We are a 501(c)3 organization, with funding for exhibits and programming coming  through memberships and fundraising events. New Braunfels was founded by people with a strong work ethic and dreams of land, freedom and prosperity. As New Braunfels grows, it becomes even more important to collect, keep and interpret the stories of the people, events and traditions that made New Braunfels & Comal County the wonderful place that it is. Help us continue educational and cultrual enrichment, connecting all of us as we “Share the stories of the people who call Comal County Home”.

This holiday shopping event enables continued operations and expanded community programming for a whole year.

Thank you for actively helping the Sophienburg to be the Guardian of History, Keeper of the Treasures and Steward of the Stories”.
